Established in 1989, Key Design specialises in analogue [analog], RF and ASIC  (Application Specific Integrated Circuit or “custom chip”) design. The range of services include:

  • Analogue and mixed signal ASIC design -
    • CMOS full custom, 0.18µm, 0.35µm, 0.8µm, 3µm
    • Silicon-on-Insulator (SOI) ASIC design - high temperature operation (up to 225°C)
    • bipolar, including Zetex 700 series semi-custom bipolar arrays
    • ASICs for obsolete IC replacement
  • analogue design -
    • low noise, high and low speed
    • signal processing and filter design
    • opto-electronics (electro-optics)
    • fibre optic communications
    • colour and monochrome camera design and video signal processing
  • CPLD, FPGA EPLD design
  • new product development
  • RF design
  • third party design audits
  • low power battery operated signal processing
  • electronics design consultancy
  • liaison with sub-contract manufacturers for any volume, including high volume Far Eastern manufacture.

Particular emphasis is on analogue design. This often involves using discrete transistor designs (bipolar, JFET or GaAsFET and ASICs) for high performance, low cost designs for volume manufacture, and for achieving performance levels unobtainable with operational amplifier solutions.

Key Design is well equipped to provide a fully working, tested prototype circuit for most development projects, including SPICE simulation, schematic entry, PCB layout, testing and documentation, as well as assisting in sourcing a manufacture for any volume if required.
